Senior Technical Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: 
Reporting to the Head of Production and Technology, we are seeking a passionate and highly driven Senior Technical Engineer who will ensure delivery of a complete end to end digital platform to deliver best customer experience. 

Key Job Accountabilities 

  • Supervise and mentor the Technical Engineer, ensuring alignment with project goals and technical standards. 
  • Provide technical expertise for studio and field productions, ensuring seamless operations. 
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of broadcast-related equipment. 

  • Plan for and execute equipment servicing, upgrades, and replacements to ensure operational readiness. 

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment, supporting external hires and usage tracking. 

  • Provide real-time technical support during live and recorded productions. 

  • Develop workarounds for emergencies and ensure continuity in production operations. 

  • Advise the Chief Producer on new technologies and solutions to enhance operational efficiency. 

  • Research and recommend advancements in audio, video, and broadcasting technologies. 

  • Conduct structured training sessions and hands-on workshops to enhance audiovisual skills and industry readiness. 
  • ​​​​​​​Provide mentorship and coaching to students, junior team members, and entrepreneurs in audiovisual production. 
  • Support entrepreneurial empowerment by aligning training initiatives with industry trends and business growth opportunities. 

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment status, faults, and resolutions. 

  • Liaise with producers, directors, and other stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met for each production. 

 
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 

  • Ensure uninterrupted technical operations for studio and field productions, maintaining high system and equipment readiness. 

  • Supervise and mentor technical staff to achieve performance targets and uphold technical standards. 

  • Oversee installation, maintenance, servicing, and upgrading of broadcast equipment to ensure optimal functionality. 

  • Maintain accurate equipment inventory records and asset accountability. 

  • Provide timely troubleshooting and real-time technical support during productions, resolving issues within agreed timelines. 

  • Recommend and implement technology improvements to enhance production efficiency and quality. 

  • Conduct structured training and mentorship initiatives to strengthen team capacity and industry readiness. 

  • Maintain proper documentation and coordinate effectively with producers, directors, and other stakeholders to meet production requirements. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Technical Engineers

  • Smooth execution of technical operations during productions. 

  • Minimal technical faults and downtime. 

  • Effective management of equipment inventory and maintenance schedules. 

  • Effective training sessions with measurable outcomes, ensuring high participant engagement and positive feedback. 

  • Positive feedback from supervisors and production teams. 

  • Implementation of new technologies and workflows to improve efficiency 
     

 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE; - 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering or technical field such as: Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering and Information Technology / Computer Engineering 

  • 3+ years of experience in web development.
