Role Overview Switch Media School seeks a dynamic and creative Lecturer in Set Design to train students in designing, constructing, and managing physical and digital sets for film, television, and live productions. The role requires an innovative trainer who can blend traditional scenic design with modern digital tools while preparing learners for hands-on industry demands.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver engaging lectures and practical sessions in set design, scenic painting, stagecraft, and production design.
Train learners on use of digital design software (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe tools) for set visualization.
Guide students in hands-on set construction, from conceptual sketches to execution.
Integrate principles of lighting, sound, and camera placement into set design teaching.
Mentor students in project-based learning, ensuring each develops a professional design portfolio.
Collaborate with colleagues in audio-visual production, graphics, and animation to deliver integrated learning.
Supervise student projects and assess both theory and practical work.
Qualifications & Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Set Design, Theatre Arts, Production Design, Architecture, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 3 years industry experience in set/stage design, TV/film production, or theatre.
Strong portfolio demonstrating hands-on set design and construction.
Knowledge of digital design software and current industry trends.
Prior teaching/training experience is an advantage.
Familiarity with AI design tools, 3D visualization, and digital production technologies.
Ability to integrate entrepreneurial approaches to set design and production.
Strong collaborative and mentoring skills.
