Job Title: Project Assistant – Basketball Experience Disability Inclusion (BE-DI)

Reporting to: Project Officer, BE-DI Project
Duty Station: Based in Nairobi, with frequent travel to target counties of Kajiado, Machakos, and Kiambu.
Contract period: 13 months

About the project

The Basketball Experience – Disability Inclusion (BE-DI) Project is a 16-month pilot initiative funded by AFD and NBA Africa and implemented by the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) youth department. This sport-for-development project leverages basketball to foster inclusion, resilience, and essential life skills among children with visual, hearing, and physical disabilities. The program will be implemented in 40 schools across Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, and Machakos counties.

Job Summary

The Project Assistant will support the administrative and logistical functions of the BE-DI project. The role will involve coordinating field activities, supporting documentation, assisting with procurement and financial tracking, and liaising with coaches, schools, and interpreters. The Assistant will also contribute to data collection, record keeping, and preparation of activity reports.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support logistical arrangements for trainings, school visits, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment distribution, coach attendance, and field activity reports.
  • Assist in preparing requisitions, budget tracking, and procurement documentation.
  • Collect and compile data from schools and coaches for reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Facilitate timely communication between field teams, schools, and project management.
  • Support documentation of case studies, photo evidence, and project stories.
  • Ensure filing and archiving of all project-related documents and reports.
  • Assist in organizing disability inclusion forums and Final Game 2026 event logistics.
  • Support interpreters and coaches with materials and logistics as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Officer.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Community Development, Education, Disability Studies, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a project support role, preferably within inclusive or youth-centered programming in KRCS context.
  • Proficiency in sign language interpretation is a STRONG REQUIREMENT.
  • Basic understanding of disability inclusion, safeguarding, and child protection.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data entry systems.
