The Society is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the following short-term position in support to the Norwegian Red Cross (NoRC) Kenya Country Office, in its support to Kenya Red Cross:
Position Title: Programme Coordination Assistant
Reporting to: Deputy Regional Representative (dRR) for Africa, Norwegian Red Cross [KRCS Line Manager Title] [administrative/contractual line]
Location: Nairobi, with periodic remote or in person support to other NoRC country offices as required
Duration: Short-term engagement between 01/08/2026 and 31/12/2026

The Programme Coordination Assistant provides short-term programmatic and coordination support to the Norwegian Red Cross (NoRC) Kenya Country Office. The role assists with day-to-day follow-up of NoRC-supported projects implemented with the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), including coordination logistics, documentation, and administrative follow-up. Familiarity with planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting (PMER) processes is an advantage, and the role may provide occasional PMER support, including to other NoRC country offices, as required.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Coordination Support
- Support day-to-day follow-up of assigned programme activities against workplans and project documentation.
- Assist with maintenance of programme documentation, filing, and record-keeping in line with NoRC requirements.
- Support coordination logistics with KRCS and other partners, including meeting scheduling, note-taking, and follow-up on action points.
- Provide practical day-to-day support to KRCS project staff on planning tools, reporting templates, and results documentation, as delegated by the dRR.
- Support tracking of workplans and follow-up on agreed deliverables and deadlines.
- Support drafting and compilation of correspondence, briefing notes, and meeting minutes as requested.
- Assist in organizing and documenting coordination meetings with KRCS technical departments and other partners.
- Participate in meetings and conferences related to relevant KRCS and NoRC engagements, share meeting minutes and contribute to strategic and operational recommendations
- Support follow-up of MEAL plans for the assigned portfolio, including indicator tracking and data collection support.
- Assist with compilation and documentation of monitoring visit findings and lessons-learned sessions.
- Assist in drafting inputs for narrative reports and donor reporting sections, under guidance of the dRR.
- Provide occasional PMER support to other NoRC-supported country offices as requested.
- Provide administrative support to the dRR on prioritized tasks as agreed.
- Support scheduling, correspondence, and follow-up on outstanding action points.
- Uphold safeguarding, PSEA, and confidentiality principles in all interactions and documentation.
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in public health, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum two (2) year of relevant experience in programme support, coordination, or project administration within a humanitarian or development context.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow up across several stakeholders.
- Strong data management skills; proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required; French is an asset
- Experience within the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement or similar humanitarian partnerships is an advantage.
- Familiarity with MEAL/PMER tools, indicator tracking, and reporting templates is an added advantage.
- This is a short-term support engagement running until 31 December 2026, contracted through the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS).
- The position does not carry standard staff benefits (e.g., medical insurance, pension contributions, leave accrual) associated with regular KRCS or NoRC employment contracts.
- Remuneration will be commensurate with a short-term, assistant-level support engagement, as agreed with KRCS.
