The Multimedia News Editor is responsible for leading the production and publication of high-quality multimedia content including text stories, videos, info graphics, and emerging digital formats for Switch Media’s website and its clients. This role involves supervising a team of multimedia reporters, assigning content, ensuring editorial quality, and aligning all output with Switch Media’s standards for audience engagement, storytelling innovation, and commercial value.
Editorial Leadership • Plan, assign, and supervise daily multimedia news production across formats (text, video, data visuals, explainers). • Oversee the editorial workflow from pitch to publishing, ensuring accuracy, relevance, timeliness, and audience appeal. • Maintain an editorial calendar aligned with audience interests, platform trends, and client needs. Multimedia Content Production • Edit and publish news and feature stories, videos, and infographics for Switch Media’s digital platforms. • Collaborate with videographers, graphic designers, and reporters to package stories across formats. • Ensure all content meets SEO best practices, mobile optimization, and platform-specific requirements. Team Supervision & Capacity Building • Manage and mentor a team of multimedia reporters and content producers. • Provide editorial feedback, review scripts and story drafts, and oversee quality control. • Lead newsroom training sessions on multimedia storytelling, digital tools, and emerging trends. Client Content Delivery • Work with the commercial and branded content teams to produce and edit multimedia content for clients. • Ensure client deliverables meet both editorial standards and commercial objectives. • Participate in client briefings and content planning sessions. Innovation & Platform Development • Monitor digital storytelling trends and experiment with new formats such as interactive content, explainers, short vertical videos, and AI-assisted tools. • Suggest and implement strategies to increase engagement, retention, and time-on-site.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Digital Media, Communications, or related field.
At least 5 years of newsroom experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory editorial role.
Proven ability to produce and edit stories across multimedia formats (text, video, graphic, interactive)
